Cookie policy

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They're used to remember preferences, keep you logged in, and understand how people use a site. Shotgun uses a small number of them — here's exactly what and why.

Essential cookies

These are required for the Service to function. They include your authentication session token (keeps you logged in) and security tokens (CSRF protection). You cannot opt out of essential cookies and continue using the Service.

Preference cookies

These remember your settings — such as your chosen theme (dark/light mode) and any interface preferences you've set. These are stored in localStorage, not cookies, but the same principles apply.

Analytics cookies

We use basic analytics to understand how the Service is used — which pages are visited, how users move through onboarding, where drop-offs happen. This data is used to improve the product. It is anonymised and aggregated; it cannot be used to identify you.

What we don't use

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party retargeting tools. We are not tracking you across the web to serve you ads. We have no interest in doing that.

How to opt out

Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. You can also use browser extensions to block tracking. Note that disabling essential cookies will break the Service — you won't be able to log in.

For analytics, if you have a "Do Not Track" signal enabled in your browser, we respect it.
